A series review: The Maze Runner

[Joana]

Hey guys, it has been a while since we have really posted on here, but we are trying to be more regular with this. I really want to try to write reviews for all the books I read and I have other blog post ideas, so yeah be looking out for those.

Today I am reviewing The Maze Runner series that I read over the last two months.

This series was written by James Dashner, and it is set in a dystopian world. Thomas, our main character, wakes up in a maze with other random boys and all his memories were wiped off. All those boys live in this Glade and only some boys are allowed to enter the Maze, and they are called Runners. When Thomas finds out about that he decides that he needs to be a Runner. Life just passes by in the Glade, until a girl is dropped in, and that is when things start to change…

I really loved this book. I am going to be honest and say that it took me a little while to get into the book. Mainly because I was busy, but also because of the vocabulary. But once I started reading it, I loved it!! I flew through it and at the end I almost cried. This book made me laugh, cry, tense up, and I ran to pick up The Scorch Trials.

My Rating: 5/5

Sometimes I am very wary about second books in series because they can be a huge let-down, but The Scorch Trials was not one of those books. I read this book faster than I read the 1st one, and I really loved it.

This book was still really good, but not as great as the other ones. I think that things just keep on happening but not in an organized way. It’s a little too much “something happens” – “ok we are good, we can continue towards the general purpose of the book” – “oh wait no more random stuff happening”. I wish we had a bit more answers, but I guess that that’s what the prequel is for. It is good but not as great

Do I recommend this series?

HECK yes I do! This is a great series. I wish the last book were stronger but it’s still really really good.

Thanks so much for hanging out and see you soon.
